How do I pillage without sinning?

I've been pillaging ports for many years now. Sometimes leaving them aflamin'. Me crew wants to return to those ports for more plunderin' which left me wonderin' if me seamen should just be left in me hull. However, me crew don't like thee idea of staying below deck. What should I do?
