I think the definition of "parent" is REALLY REALLY broad, and includes many different kinds of people, relationships, and situations, but the thing that really makes you a parent is love. If you truly love the child, you will want what is best for them, and you will make any amount of sacrifices to see that the child is well-cared-for and nurtured, and this will be true whether you are a biological parent, step-parent, adoptive parent, grandparent, foster parent, or other.
