What is the definition of centripetal force?

i've been ask with my lecturer to do experiment on centripetal force..i've done it yesterday.my clmate and i do not learn yet about centripetal force but then we were asked to do the experiment.we are now have to do the discussion and a few type of question.how can we answer all th question if we didnt know nothing about centripetal force
