People keep talking about the VT killer and how creepy he was. All I want to know is: Was his writing good?

Not that the guy wasn't weird and dangerous, but there was a time when writing things like he did was considered a healthy outlet for such feelings, rather than act out on them. Hell, France had the Grand Guignol theater that specialized in over-the-top violent plays and realistic special effects since the mid 1800s to the 1960s. When did this stuff stop being encouraged as an alternative to violent behavior? When did we tell people to stop expressing their inner turmoil and just do what eeryone else wants? And were this creepy dude's plays something that could actually be considered art?
